Custom-made snoring brace

Prevent snoring with a visit to the dentist

Snoring is a problem that can have a major impact on the quality of your life and that of your partner. Partners who sleep apart due to snoring are unfortunately more the rule than the exception. Not only men, but also women snore. The sound that is created by snoring is caused by soft tissues, such as the uvula, vibrating when breathing in and out. Due to the lack of space at the back of the throat, the air cannot flow freely here and causes vibrations and a snoring sound.

Loud snoring and/or holding your breath during sleep can even be a sign of sleep apnea. This is often because the tongue falls back and blocks the airway. This can cause the oxygen level in the blood to drop significantly. Eventually, the body wakes up (sudden heavy breathing) and sleep is disturbed. As a result of these breathing stops, these patients may suffer from loss of concentration, high blood pressure, low energy, headaches in the morning, or just doze off during the day.

This form of apnea is called Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (PART). Patients often suffer from it for years before the correct diagnosis can be made (often partly due to the partner). Apnea often occurs within families. Fortunately, in many cases something can be done about it without major medical intervention, namely with a snoring brace!

A custom-made anti-snoring device (MRA)

At Botman Tandartsen we are specialized in making custom snoring braces. We have all the equipment in-house to help you professionally and quickly to a better night's sleep. To measure your snoring brace, your mouth is digitally scanned with the Trios 3shape scanner. So there is no need to "bite" anymore. Thanks to this modern scanner, the snoring brace is many times more accurate than with a traditional bitten (alginate) impression. This makes the brace optimally comfortable to wear and you can easily put the brace in and take it out.

In recent years, the anti-snoring device, the Mandibular Repositioning Device (MRA), has increasingly become a solution for people with apnea and snoring problems. The MRA anti-snoring device is an effective, scientifically proven treatment method for snoring and mild to mild apnea. The MRA keeps the lower jaw and tongue in a forward position during sleep. This increases the airway and eliminates snoring sounds and breathing stops, resulting in a better night's sleep.

The MRA is also increasingly used as an alternative to a CPAP (nasal mask), due to its greater wearing comfort. If apnea has been diagnosed through a sleep study, the MRA is fully reimbursed from the basic insurance.

To provide you with the highest wearing comfort and the best results, we work together with market leader SomnoDent. Together we make (since 2019) the latest model, Fusion, for our patients. With this innovative technology we can make your snoring brace perfectly to measure, even if you wear dentures.

Do you recognize these complaints in yourself or someone in your environment? Then take the first step towards a better night's sleep and call for an intake. After the conversation, you must submit a request for a sleep test. This will show whether the MRA is recommended and whether the insurance will reimburse the costs.
