During your life, your teeth have to endure a lot. This can result in cavities that are repaired with fillings. Over time, teeth or molars can be filled to a large extent, making them weaker. Fillings can then break and pieces of tooth can break off. Sometimes larger fillings are no longer a solution. Having crowns and bridges placed is a good solution. Crowns and bridges are intended as durable replacements for the crown part of teeth or molars. And the best thing is that a good crown or bridge does not stand out in your teeth. We ensure that the shape and colour match the other teeth and molars as naturally as possible.
Getting Crowns? Here's What You Need to Know
A crown is a cap of reinforced porcelain (lithium disilicate) that fits precisely over a ground tooth or molar. The cap is glued to the tooth or molar. There are various reasons why having crowns fitted can be a solution: larger filling, heavy forces due to a strong bite, tooth decay, weakened teeth or molars as a result of root canal treatment or for aesthetic reasons, such as a discoloured or poorly formed tooth that is clearly visible.
When are bridges the solution?
When multiple teeth missing, a bridge also offers a solution. A bridge is attached to two or more pillar elements; these are teeth on which we place crowns on either side of an open space. The open space is filled by means of a so-called bridge intermediate part. This intermediate part can consist of 1 or more crowns/dummies. There are various reasons to have a bridge placed. Improving the appearance is one. But a bridge is also a solution to be able to chew better or to prevent teeth and molars from becoming crooked or growing out. Crowns and bridges are glued and are therefore fixed constructions. This makes it feel like a real part of your teeth and is very comfortable to wear.
and bridges are digitally scanned in the mouth (3shape). This is more accurate and comfortable for the patient, compared to traditional biting.
